The BBC have confirmed today that Billie Piper is going to return to Doctor Who as Rose Tyler in series 4 of Doctor Who (that is, series 4 of the new Doctor Who). She will appear in 3 episodes, which means that alongside Donna (Catherine Tate) and Martha (Freema Agyeman), the Doctor will have three companions for his next set of adventures.
The new series is set to be aired in March and will last for 13 episodes. This will be the last full series until 2010, although 3 “special”episodes will be broadcast in 2009. With the second series of the equally fantastic Torchwood due to start early next year, also with 13 episodes, makes me wonder if they’re planning to run the two series back-to-back, or even simultaneously, with storylines crossing over from one series to another. My only concern is that after June 2008 (which, if my calculations are correct, is when S4 of Doctor Who is due to finish) will we have to wait until Christmas that year (at the earliest) until we get our next fix?
Until then we have the Christmas episode to keep our Gallifreyan appetites fulfilled. Starring pop-pixie Kylie Minogue and featuring The Titanic, the storyline appears on the surface to be pleasingly different from the previous two years (i.e. no more evil Santas please!)

I am the biggerest fan (yes I know my grammar is excellent) of doctor who that could ever exist!! Rose was the best role model I could have!! I always knew Rose would HAVE to come back but not this soon!!!!! My dreams have come TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No news yet as to who will be in series 5, but that won’t be aired until 2010. They’re filming the Xmas special right now, and there’s 3 feature length episodes next year to tide us by. Its possible that Rose will return, but Billie Piper has been signed up for a second series of “Diary of a Call Girl” and there are rumours of other project.
Maybe the question we should be asking is will David Tennant return in S5?
