You may have noticed a new addition to the site in the bottom-right corner. That’s because ryanajarrett.com is taking part in Orange’s Internet Balloon Race. This interesting event, billed as the world’s first ever balloon race across the Internet, starts at 9am on Monday 23rd June. Anyone can take part - just visit the site, register your details, choose your baloon (shaped as one of Orange’s four contract options - a Dolphin, a Camel, a Canary or a Racoon) and wait for the starting pistol to fire. You have seven days to travel across as many websites as possible.
The grand prize awarded to the baloonist that travels the furthest over a week is a 7-night luxury holiday to Ibiza, in a luxury villa with swimming pool, tennis courts, a private chef and even spending money. There are also daily prizes to be won if you collect the power ups. Oh yes, there’s power-ups! Read on…
Along the way there are icons dotted around different sites which can be collected. There are three types and these have different effects:
- There are gas canister icons that speed you up when you press the right arrow key.
- There are rainbows that teleport you further ahead in the race
- There are prize stars. Collect five of these in a day and you’ll be entered into a draw to win the daily prizes.
I’m not too sure how well all of this will work, but it certainly sounds interesting, and hopefully at some point the contestants will fly over my site.
