We went to see Dara O’Briain live last night. My throat still hurts this morning from all the laughing - he was brilliant. If you don’t know who he is, he’s the tall, bald guy that hosts “Mock The Week” on BBC2.
His style of humour is observational with a couple of anecdotes thrown in, but he improvises a good 30-45 minutes of material just by talking to the audience. He doesn’t pick on the audience like some comics do. Instead he finds out what they do for a living and talks them up and somehow makes them “heroes” for the next 2½ hours.
Ok, he swears a bit, but I never find him crude or offensive. He seems to be able to talk non-stop and barely breaks into a sweat. And the stories he tells are embellished with details and relevant meanderings that never leaves the audience bored.
