Speedlinks

SpeedlinksI’ve never seen these before but they look amazing.  Street art created from rubbish bags that inflate over ventilation grilles when an underground train goes past!  They’re quite surreal but a lot of skill must go into each model.

Flux CapacitorEver wanted to experience time travel.  Want to follow in Doc Brown’s footsteps, accelerate to 88 miles per hour and be sent back in time.  Well now you can…or at least you can pretend to.  How about this “working” replica Flux Capacitor for only £200.

RetoNOOB's fantastic 8-bit mashupsRetroNOOB has brilliantly fused modern photos with 8-bit artwork, creating some interesting results.  See a Street Fighter bout taking place in a real Dojo, or Donkey Kong being pursued by Mario up the side of a real skyscraper.

Making Popcorn With Your Mobile Phone

Apparently this has been doing the rounds for a while, but I’ve only just seen this.  Looks like a hoax or a viral marketing campaign, but there are already variants popping up on the web.

There are a number of theories as to how this is done - pre-treated kernels, under table heating element, hidden microwave parts. I think the latter is most likely. Apparently the kernels need to heat to 450 degrees Fahrenheit before the moisture inside turns to steam and makes them explode, and if your Nokia did that your fingers would like like a nasty barbequing accident after a five minute call! Very clever though. What next? A laptop that cooks pizzas? An iPod with spitroast cover flow?

Drive With Eyes In The Back Of Your Head

Picture the scene, you’re driving along, and need to get into the lane next to you.  You put your indicator on and try edging in between the speeding cars.  No luck.  You try again and some generous (or slow!) motorist lets you in.  How do you say thank you?  Some people chuck on their hazard lights for a couple of seconds.  Some let their indicators flicker quickly.  Others simply raise their hands.  Well now there’s another option.

Drivemocion

Enter the Drivemocion.  This rear-window mounted unit faces drivers behind you and shows them how you’re really feeling!  It features five animated faces: sadness, anger, flirting, cheeky and complete annoyance!  There is even a version that lets you flick a finger at less-than-courteous drivers.  There is a control panel mounted in the front of the car and the driver can change the expression at will.

I doubt this will actually do anything for roadside relations - if anything it will probably increase instances of road rage!  The device runs off of two AA batteries and can last up to four months, but if anyone uses the device for that long I’ll be surprised.  It will either be neglected through boredom or destroyed by an aggrieved motorist!  I’m not sure about the legality of using these either.
