Tate as Who companion

I didn’t get time to post this yesterday, but it was widely reported that Catherin Tate is going to be David Tennant’s partner in time for the fourth series of Doctor Who. At this point in time, I’m not exactly jumping for joy. I’m not saying she’s bad - the Christmas Special with Tate playing the “Runaway Bride” Donna was fine but by the end I felt relieved it was over. Tate’s character was too comedic, and its hard to see Donna becoming the second hero (after the Doctor of course) following Billie Piper’s and Freema Agyeman’s performances. She’s too dappy, and I think her character needs to change to make it work. I may be wrong though and I’ll reserve judgement for the time being. I was kind of hoping that the rumours regarding Sally Sparrow as the new companion were true!
