Doctor Who - News Update

In the past couple of weeks there have been a few bits of Doctor Who news that I haven’t written about, so I’ve collated them here…

Rose Back on Set

The first pictures have been released of Rose (Billie Piper) returning to Doctor Who.  The shots show the Doctor’s companion behind some police barriers at the scene of an incident, but there’s no further clues to the plotline.

New Executive Producer from January ‘08

Former ITV producer, Piers Wenger, will become the new Executive Producer for Doctor Who from the beginning of next year.  Wenger, known for his work on the award-winning Housewife, 49, will shadow outgoing EP Julie Gardner for a 12-month handover period, ready to take the reins for Series Five in 2009/10.

The Best Toys In The Last 10 Years

Christmas 2007 is almost here.  Stores are packed with harassed shoppers, overworked staff and , so I thought I would continue with this theme and list the best selling toys of the past 10 years as determined by the British Association of Toy Retailers (BATR).

1997 - The Year of the Teletubby

TeletubbiesThe Teletubbies marked a revolution in pre-school television.  Anyone who was around and the time will remember the incredible launch of the Teletubbies toy range, and how near on impossible it was to get one.   So it was no surprise that it became the BATR Toy of the Year in 1997.  I remember being in Hamleys in London and people were grabbing as many as they could of them off of the shelves as soon as new stock was put out.  I did actually manage to obtain 2 Teletubbies that year: total cost = £45.  10 years later, what do I see but Teletubbies in Woolworths for £7.50 a piece!
